How It Works

From broken borehole to flowing water - our step-by-step rehabilitation process

Our Rehabilitation Process

From identification to community handover, here's how we make it happen

1

Identification & Partnership

We work with Members of Parliament in all constituencies to identify broken boreholes and gather data on non-functional water points.

2

Technical Assessment

Our technical team visits each site to assess damage, determine repair requirements, and evaluate community water needs.

3

Planning & Resource Allocation

We determine required materials, technical expertise, and timeline based on the comprehensive site assessment.

4

Rehabilitation Work

Skilled teams perform repairs including pump replacement, well cleaning, structural repairs, and water quality testing.

5

Community Handover

We test water quality, train community members on maintenance, and officially hand over the rehabilitated borehole.

6

Monitoring & Support

Ongoing monitoring ensures long-term functionality and provides support for any emerging issues.

Carbon Finance Explained

Our work is supported by carbon finance because clean water access directly reduces carbon emissions:

  • Communities with functioning boreholes don't need to boil water from unsafe sources
  • Less boiling means less firewood collection and consumption
  • Reduced firewood use protects forests and prevents deforestation
  • This generates verified carbon credits that support ongoing rehabilitation

Pacific Limited owns all rights to these carbon credits and can trade or transfer them to support expanded rehabilitation efforts across Malawi.

Who We Serve

We rehabilitate any broken borehole, regardless of who originally installed it. Whether it was put in by government, NGOs, or private entities—if it's broken and serving a community, we'll work to bring it back to life.

Timeline Expectations

Rehabilitation time depends on damage level—from minor repairs taking days to complex rehabilitations taking several weeks. Our goal is to restore water access as quickly as possible while ensuring quality workmanship.
